The Bulgarian-Israeli firm Melina is going to invest EUR 50 M in the construction of a new shopping center in the city of Plovdiv called Markovo Tepe Mall. The investor has selected the Turkish construction company Intertek Group to execute the project. The new mall is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. It will be located in downtown Plovdiv on one of the city\\'s seven hills - Markovo Tepe. The all out built-up area of the Markovo Tepe Mall (on the photo) will be 62 000 square meters. It is expected to employ about 1 000 people. The mall is expected to impress its clients with a unique interior design by an Israeli architect. The Melina firm has investments in office and shopping centers in Israel, Europe, and North America. The Markovo Tepe Mall will be its first project in Bulgaria for which it has been awarded a first-class investor certificate by the Foreign Investments Agency.
