 The Day of St.Anna

The Day of St.Anna

7/25/2006 5:11:53 AM

This is the second day around the year dedicated to St. Anna (December 9 - ANINDEN/St. Annas Day, the Conception of the Holy Mother of God by Saint Anna).

St.Anna is celebrated as the guardian of pregnancies, birth and motherhood. This day is supposed to be free of any work ? otherwise women would miscarriage or have hard delivery. The mistresses of the houses make bread without yeast and give it away for the health of young children; that way the saint is going to protect them of fire or fever. St.Anna?s icon is decorated with flowers and gifts by church-goers.

The photo above: The ubiquitous Goddess-Mother - according to the Thracian Orpheism the ubiquitous Goddess-Mother was the initially existing, she was the Universe itself; then she concives on her own and gives birth to her first-born son, who is the Sun during the day and fire during the night - personified as Zagreus or Sabaseus.
