90th anniversary of the death of Peyo Yavorov

Today is the 90th anniversary of the death of Peyo Yavorov, eminent Bulgarian poet (born Jan. 13, 1878, Chirpan - died Oct. 16/29, 1914, Sofia).

Yavorov was the pseudonym of  Peyo Kracholov - Bulgarian poet and dramatist, the founder of the Symbolism Movement in Bulgarian poetry. Yavorov took part in the preparation of the ill-fated Macedonian uprising against Ottoman hegemony in August 1903; he edited revolutionary papers, and crossed twice into Macedonia with partisan bands.

He had a hard marriage of love and agony with the well-educated emancipated daughter of a former Prime Minister - Lora Karavelova, who committed suicide shooting herself, but it was Yavorov who was accused of murdering her. Shortly afterwards, he committed suicide himself, dying too young - at the age of 36.
