A book about the “totalitarian cuisine”

The book is written by the Russian writer Vladimir Kaminer (see the photo above) who lives in Germany and writes in German. His book reminds readers of the times when shops offered only a few products – like cabbage in winter and apples in summer. He tells the story of Homo Soveticus who took refuge in reading the classics, wondering what the taste of some delicious meals described in, say, Gogol’s novels would be like, while being unable to enjoy good food at all...
