EASTER SUNDAY

This great feast is also known as Veliden, Vliden, Vazkresenie Hristovo. The Sunday after the first springtime full moon; one of the greatest springtime holidays, lasting for three days. Its place in the calendar coincides with the rebirth and flowering of Nature, with the triumph of Sun and of Life.
Celebrated by the Church as a day of the Resurrection of Church, in the folk tradition Velikden is associated with a multitude of pre-Christian conceptions. The morning on the first holiday (always a Sunday) all go to a solemn church service. The candle from church is taken back home.
Easter is a Christian holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead on the Sunday after his crucifixion on Good Friday and marking the end of Lent. Easter is the holiest day in the Christian calendar, followed by Christmas and is recognized as a legal holiday in most countries.
