The Commission on Civil Liberties, Justice and home Affairs of the EP discussed the report for the fulfillment on the part of Bulgaria and Romania of the criteria for entering the Schengen space. The report worked out by MEP Carlos Coelho will be put to the vote in the Commission on May 2. The decision will be made at a session in Strasbourg on June 4. During the sitting the report was given only positive assessments on both countries’ readiness to enter the Schengen area. The common opinion was that there should be no double standards and that the two countries should not be faced with new conditions for membership, different from those previously admitted member countries have been challenged with.
