Exhibition of Effie Micheli in the City Art Gallery in Plovdiv

City Art Gallery in Plovdiv, 15 Alexander I St, has organized an exhibition of paintings byt he Greek artist Effie Micheli (1906-1984). Inspration for the artist was the Greek nature in the period following WW2.

Effie Micheli (1906-1984) emerged as an artist in 1952 and she was soon identified as a naive painter by art critics.

Micheli participated in exhibitions all over Greece and in more than 50 Greek group shows. She also presented her work at one-woman shows in Athens, Boston and Stockholm. Micheli received many awards and distinctions. In

1979 she founded The Panayotis & Effie Michelis’ Foundation in support of the study, promotion and dissemination of the philosophy of art. Many articles about the artist’s work have appeared in newspapers and art magazines. Her work can be found in many private collections both in Greece and abroad.
