Citizens’ Association is lobbying for the erection of a new monument in Ploivdiv – of the writer and dissident Georgi Markov, killed in 1978 in London. The Municipal Council has members supporting this idea, although Markov was not connected to Plovdiv. A public debate will probably decide on whether or not such a monument will appear in our city.
