This year the Non-Smoking Day puts the stress on the tobacco - poverty relationship. Volunteers will go out in the streets of 11 towns and cities in the campaign called GENEROUS HEART. You are welcome to join!

Smoking has reached its critical level in Bulgaria in the last few years. The average annual consumption of cigarettes per person in BG has increased from 916 cigarettes in 2002 up to 978,1 cigarettes in 2003. People with anual income exceeding 3000 lv per capita are now smoking about 1400 cigarettes annually, while those with annual income up to 600 lv are smoking about 792 cigarettes annually.

The smoking intensity grows. The persentage of people smoking up to 20 and more cigarettes a day have doubled. Another dangerous fact - the age limit of starting smoking have gone further down...
