The Treaty of Neuilly (1919), dealing with Bulgaria for its role as one of the Central Powers in World War I, was signed on the November 27, 1919 at Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. The treaty required Bulgaria to cede land to its neighbors, reduce its army to 20,000 men, pay reparations exceeding $400 million, and recognize the existence of Yugoslavia. (info: Wikipedia)

 

 

The Treaty of Neuilly took away much land, for example Western Thrace to Greece, which was the coastline Bulgaria had to the Mediterranean via the Aegean Sea.

 

 

The whole territory of the so called West Territories amounts to 1545 sq.m. and had a population of 64,509 people. More than 30,000 fled back to Bulgaria, while some 5,000 emigrated to Western Europe or USA...
