As many as 61 000 first-graders enter the classrooms throughout Bulgaria, September 15. This is 1500 more than last year. According to information from the Ministry of Education Bulgarian school-goers are over 650 000. They all meet the academic year with ceremonies at school, hoisting the National flag and that of each school respectively. By tradition cabinet ministers take part in the school-opening ceremonies across the country. “For all Bulgarians September 15 is a festive day and Bulgarians are still crossing the school threshold as they enter the Church”, said Minister of Education, Science and Youth Sergey Ignatov on the occasion.
