The total number of the regions will remain intact but correction will be made inside the regions - that was the final decision of the expert group with the Ministry of Regional Development and Welfare, formed by the PM’s decree, to prepare the plan for the upcoming territorial division of the country in separate regions.
The Stara Zagora Municipality will be removed from the Southern Central Region of Bulgaria (center: Plovdiv) and will join the South-Eastern Region, whose center is the city of Bourgas. This way the Southern Central Region will really suffer from the loss as Stara Zagora is a well-developed economic area and has a high GDP per capital. (info: Radio Plovdiv)
