The Antarctica Exhibition presents the latest one-man project of Svilen Panayotov after his participation in the twelfth Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition to the island of Livingston, Antarctica.
After a three-month stay at the beginning of 2004, the photographer returned with rich impressions and numerous photographs. The project?s aim is through the photographic exhibition consisting of 51 works, video films and a text, the unique animal world and exceptional beauty of this unrefined continent and also the labour of the Bulgarian workers on the pole to be popularised. The accompanying travel notes ?Antarctica: on the way to a dream?, is the first writing attempt of the author and describes all interesting moments of the journey in Antarctica, Tierra del Fuego, the Southern part of the Andes and the Iguacu Falls.
Svilen Panayotov was born in 1963 in the town of Pleven. In his student years he discovered the magic of photography and his photographic camera has been with him since then. After graduating the Higher Electrical and Technical Institute in Varna, he has worked as an engineer-constructor, scientific collaborator, photographer and an operator in a mini photographic lab. He prefers taking photographs of animals in their natural habitat, of landscapes and the macro photography.
He has several one-man shows, participation in joint exhibitions and awards from several Bulgarian and international photographic contests. His works are included in the created in 2001 first digital bank of photography ? Photo Tresor.
