Tragic anniversary – April 14th, 1925, laid the foundations of the future blood coup d’etat of April 16th….

That day the communists performed several murder plots. The aim was to kill high rank officials so that their memorial service would take at the “St Nedelya” Cathedral in the centre of Sofia, where the state eleite would be present and thus eliminated by the terrorists.

The first murder plot targeted the then Bulgarian Tsar, Boris III, and his closest circle while traveling in the area of Galabets outside Sofia. The terrorists managed to kill Prof. Delcho Ilchev as well Kotev from the Tsar’s circle, but the Tsar himself remained intact…

The same day, at 8 pm, near the “St Sedmochislenitsi” Church in Sofia the second plot took place, this time successful. Two men, J.Dinov and A.Todovichin, killed their target – General Kosta Georgiev, who was walking hand in hand with one of his kids. General Georgiev was shot in the back, right in front of his child.

The goal was achieved – the service for General Georgiev was appointed for April 16th, 1925, at the “ST Nedelya” Church….
