Bulgaria’s #1 female tennis player Tsvetana Pirionkova continues her participation in the Wimbledon tournament. The 23 years old young star from Plovdiv displaced for a second year in a row Venus Williams from the Britain’s Open tennis tournament, this time in the eight finals in London. Pironkova, placed 32nd in the basic list of the third for this year tournament for the Bog Shield, qualified for the quarter finals after a clever game and patient observation of the opponent’s mistakes. She succeeded to win over the five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams with 6-2, 6-3. The quarter finals’ matches are: Tsvetana Pirionkova vs. Petra Kvitowa, Dominika Tsibulkova vs. Maria Sharapova, Sabine Lisicki vs. Marion Bartoli and Tamira Pashek vs. Victoria Azarenka.
