For the 15th time in succession, International Fair Plovdiv is organizing VINARIA together with the National Vine and Wine Chamber aiming to bring together vine growers, wine producers and merchants to strike the annual balance.

VINARIA 2007 is taking place on 28 - 31 March 2007 at the Fairgrounds. The exhibition stands of the participants in the International Exhibition of Vine-Growing and Wine-producing are allocated in Pavilions 10, 11, 12, 13 and the adjoining outdoor area.

Exhibitors at VINARIA 2007 are 556 companies from 35 countries marking the 15th anniversary of the largest trade event in the vine and wine sector in Central and South East Europe.

Compared to 2006, the number of exhibitors at the 15th edition of VINARIA has grown by 39, while the number of countries is up by one. The gross exhibition area has been increased by 13% - from 13,233 sq. m to 14,891 sq. m.

The exhibits of 203 renowned Bulgarian producers and merchants are on display at VINARIA 2007, i.e. wineries, vine-growing and wine-producing complexes, research institutes, companies engaged in grape processing, vine-growing equipment, bottling and packaging machinery.

VINARIA 2007 is following the tradition with a very impressive international participation. The foreign exhibitors are 353, including the represented ones: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Republic of South Africa, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the USA.

First-time exhibitors at VINARIA, a UFI-approved event since 1997, are Chinese Taipei, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Poland and Sweden.

The largest expositions and the biggest number of companies are presented by Italy, France and Germany.

The largest exhibition area is occupied by 79 companies producing and trading in wines and spirits. The exceptionally rich assortment of quality wines includes table wines, AOC wines, collection wines, frothy and sparkling wines, flavoured wines. The range of other alcoholic beverages is equally remarkable including grape and fruit rakia, wine brandy, liqueur, whisky, vodka, gin, rum, etc.

A great number of participating companies, i.e. 85, are exhibiting machinery and equipment for grape processing, stabilizing and bottling of wine and spirits; ancillary materials, wine analyzers and instruments, supplies, products and services.

Sixty-three exhibitors are presenting the newest machinery and equipment for vine cultivation, harvesting and transportation, as well as the innovations in the vine sector. Grapevine nurseries and companies offering plant protection chemicals are also taking part in the exhibition.

Thirty-five companies are displaying the new trends in the packaging industry, and further 18 companies are offering services and information.

The National Wine and Spirits Tastings, organized by the National Vine and Wine Chamber, were held from 28 February to 10 March in Pavilion 3 at the Fairgrounds. A total number of 752 samples entered the competition, 91 more than the previous year.

The winners of gold, silver and bronze medals, honorary certificates and “Wine of the Year” certificates, as well as the Golden Rython Grand Award, established by International Fair Plovdiv, will be announced at the WINE AND LOVE, LOVE AND WINE Promotion Ball. The ritual inauguration of the young enologists, swearing the Dionysian oath, will also take place there.

The traditional WINE FESTIVAL within the framework of VINARIA will begin as a Dionysian celebration of the whole city to be officially opened on 28 March at 3 p.m. at the square in front of Plovdiv City Hall.

The Business Events Programme of the 15th edition of VINARIA is comprising a round-table discussion, seminars, presentations and meetings. The High Level Conference, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for the fourth time in a row, is dealing with the topic: “The Wine Sector in South-East Europe to Face the Challenges of the Globalization Process”. A seminar on the topic “Wine in the Restaurant” is organized on the initiative of Bacchus Magazine with the kind assistance of the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association.

In Pavilion 12, connoisseurs are provided the opportunity to purchase quality wines and spirits made by renowned companies.

The opening hours for visitors are 9 a.m. – 6 p. m, and the price of the admission ticket is BGN 3.00 .
