The actor Assen Kisimov was born on May 3rd, 1936, in Plovdiv.

Ever since he was 12 he participated actively in radio performances. In 1959 he graduated from the Film and Theatre Arts Academy in Sofia, Major Acting, in the Prof. Georgi Stamatovs class, and became an actor first in the Bourgass Drama Theater and later in the BG Army Theater.

He played more than 120 characters in theater plays and more than 35 ones in the cinema. For almost 40 years in row he spent each Saturday behind the microphone in the Conversation with the Audience radio show at the Hristo Botev channel, which could have successfully won him a Guinness record for hosting the longest surviving radio show.

All of his professional life has been dedicated to children. Ever since 1962 he had been telling fairy tale stories on TV. A large number of the films he played characters in were also focused on kids world.

Assen Kisimov died unexpectedly on July 13th, 2005, while in the town of Blagoevgrad for the opening of the exhibition Art + Love = Paris. He loved children and always treated them with great respect as he believed them superior to adults. With kids it is always fair competition, no treachery, no actions behind ones back. Just fair competition.
