Hundreds of Plovdiv citizens paid last tribute to the body of Metropolitan Arsenius. Black flags draped the Holy Synod in Sofia

Late Saturday afternoon people gathered in The Holy Virgin Cathedral in Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city, to pay last tribute to Plovdiv Metropolitan Arsenius. The heart of the Metropolitan stopped beating at 9.40hpm on Friday. His Excellency died of a heart attack in St George university hospital. In the afternoon his body laid in state in Plovdiv's largest church where he often used to serve.

According to the cannon, he was dressed in full regalia and his metropolitan gold crown on.

At 2.30hpm bells toll announced a high churchman died. High state officials and local authorities are expected to pay last tribute to Father Arsenius.
