Construction of a modern concert scene inside the City Culture Center in Plovdiv is scheduled to finish this coming spring.
The new scene is expected to surpass even the one in the Ivan Vazov National Theater in Sofia, and practically become the second best on the Balkan Peninsula after the famous Athens Opera in Greece, according to Plovdiv Mayor, Slavcho Atanassov, who evaluated the current reconstruction as "a creation of a real culture bijou".
The construction company engaged with the reconstruction of the City Culture Center scene is the Greek company Aktor, represented in Plovdiv by Polychronis Hapsalis. The official launch date of the new scene has been scheduled for March 28, 2011.
