Yesterday the ?Tchernorizets Hrabr? Academy granted its awards for journalism achievements. The Grand Award ? for overall journalism achievements went to Ivaylo Dichev, the SEGA newspaper columnist, and also, posthumously, to Georgi Tambuev, who back in the totalitarian regime years set an example for a clearly expressed journalistic position with his investigation ?Corruption dressed up in power?. His award was handed to his wife, who, not able to hide her sorrow, said: ?If Georgi was here tonight, he would have been truly happy.?The Special Award was granted to Mirela Vasselinova and Hristo Nikolov (from the Dneven Trud newspaper).The Political Journalism Award was handed to Velislava Dareva for her journalistic investigation ? Hristo Hristov, a Diary.The Photo-Journalism Award was granted to Tsvetan Tomchev from the Noshten Trud newspaper.The Special Award winners Mirela Vasselinova and Hristo Nikolov got the award for their investigation ?A crown of real estates? in the Dneven Trud newspaper. When receiving the award Mirela said: ?The journalist feels a true missionary when he happens to redirect the public opinion in regards to a given event or person. I believe it was done by our investigation in the Trud newspaper. Let us journalists wish to have more adequate reaction to all our publications, so that we won?t feel as ringing the bell in a village of deaf people only ??Velislava Dareva?s words upon receiving the award were the following: ?You can not buy readers. They have to be won. So, I thank the readers.? She had curtain calls due to her colleagues? continuous applauses.The Tvetan Tomchev?s award in the Photo-Journalism Category was given to him for his impressive photographs from Chechnya and Iraq.In the Investigation Category, the award went to Hristo Hristov from the Dnevnik newspaper, in a hard competition with Alexandra Makaryan, from the Novinar newspaper, and Alexenia Dimitrova, from the 24 Hours newspaper. The stylish ceremony took place in the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and was directly transmitted by the BNT Channel One (Bulgarian National TV). Among the guests were the President Georgi Purvanov, the Chairman of the Parliament Ognyan Gerdzhikov, the leader of the DPS Party for Ethnic Rights Ahmed Dogan, the Vice PM Lidya Shouleva, the Social Affairs Minister Hristina Hristova, and many MPs. The ceremony was directed by the eminent director of show programs Hacho Boyadzhiev, and was hosted by the actors Anya Pencheva and Daniel Tsochev.
