Nikola Alvadzhiev was born in Plovdiv in 1900. He graduated from the “Alexander I” High school in Plovdiv.

He worked for the Plovdiv municipal administration for more than 20 years. His first book “In the shades of the ancient Plovdiv” was released in 1937.

In 1971 his book “Plovdiv Chronicle” appeared, arising unique interest in the audience. Another of his books is “The memory of a town” (1972), but his prepared-while-still-alive book “Ancient Churches of Plovdiv” unfortunately remained unpublished …
