The European Bat Night will be marked tonight at King Simeon gardens in Plovdiv. The initiative covers another five Bulgarian cities – Russe, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Plovdiv and Vratsa.
The aim of the initiative is for the wide public to get familiar with the life and habits of these animals and realize why their preservation is important. European Bat Night is marked since 1990. As of 1997 the initiative stands under the aegis of the Agreement for Bat Protection in Europe – EUROBATS.
Up to date the event has been observed in 30 countries across Europe. Bulgaria marks Bat Night for the 14th time in a row.
