EP election in Bulgaria



On Sunday Bulgarians went to the polls to elect 17 members to the new European parliament. 10 political parties, three coalitions and one independent ran in the election. Just over 6 million 704 000 Bulgarians were entitled to vote in the ballot. The election was monitored by 4 non-governmental organizations. 52 polling stations were opened in 30 countries for resident Bulgarians to vote.

The Central Electoral Commission informed early Monday morning that 90.47% of processed polling records by 04.00 hrs Monday morning indicated GERB party won Sunday’s EP ballot in Bulgaria with 24.55 of votes, followed by Coalition for Bulgaria with 18.44%, MRF- 14.13% and ATAKA Party- 11.72%, NMSS- 8.07% and the Blue Coalition- 8.01%. Voter turnout across the country was 37.49%. There have been 600 000 ballots up on 2007’s EP election in Bulgaria.
