Within a single day Kenneth Garret and his colleagues took more than 1,000 photos in Perperikon and Tatul
Perperikon will fascinate more than 40 million people all around the world, i.e all the readers of the National Geographic magazine who will hold in their hands its December issue dedicated to the Thracian sanctuaries and treasures. The magazine's circulation is 10 million copies translated in 29 languages.
"Each copy is read by four people at least," said legendary photographer Kenneth Garret. He is part of the team which prepares the Christmas edition about Perperikon and Tatul. The foreigners made more than 1000 photos of the ancient sites during the first day of their visit to Kardjali region.
"The world will finally understand that the Thracian culture is not a chapter in the Greek mythology, but a rich and powerful civilization created by spiritually elevated people, warriors and artists," Garret said. In his opinion, for long years the Thracians have been unjustly underestimated for the sake of ancient Greece and Rome. This made the team of the National Geographic decide to shed new light on the issue.
According to Garret, Bulgaria is "the gate of all the world civilizations to Europe," because the ancient people from Africa and Asia have passed through its territory on their way to Europe.
"It's here that the origin of copper and gold processing must be searched for," the photographer added.
Last year Kenneth Garret visited Perperikon and Tatul for the first time and their incredible atmosphere won his admiration.
"The foreign tourists will feel just like me and the mystery of these places will make them return to Bulgaria again and again.
