PLovdiv Airport is going to be expanded and reconstructed. The Ministerial Council has approved a decree for funding this project. Plovdiv Airport is considered a "reserve airport" and ifunctions as substitute for Sofia Airport in cases of bad visibility due to foggy conditions. The current Passenger Terminal was built in 1982, and its capacity is 200 passengers per hour.
