The athlete Nezdzhan Naimova (on the photo above) was appointed Plovdiv Sportsman of the Year for 2006. The young girl who has won world champion titles in the 100 and 200 m sprint at the Teenage World Championship in China ranked first with 485 points at the annual poll of sports clubs and sports journalists in Plovdiv.
Second is the boxing vice-champion Detelin Dalakliev (395 points) and third is the European karate champion Valeri Dimitrov (285 points).
The three sportsmen got awarded by the Plovdiv Mayor, Dr Chomakov, at a special ceremony – the annual Sportsmen Ball in Plovdiv.
